SFMix 010: Small Crab
The Dublin-based DJ and producer helms this percussive mix.
Skin&Blister have been an important and enlightening addition to the Irish scene over the past year, championing female, trans, and non-binary artists. Having previously featured EMA and Mercorn, we have another mix from another member of the boundary-shifting collective.
“I think we are starting to see more awareness around diversity in various fields across the board,” says Small Crab. “Hopefully, we can keep that change growing collectively.”
Small Crab, real name Anastasia Rigaud, comes from an eclectic background that escapes any conventional definition. While her upbringing in Germany within a French-Polish household saw her typically behind a drum set or listening to Hiatus Kaiyote records, a move to Ireland four years ago had the 22-year-old becoming gradually besotted with electronic music.
Now a DJ and producer, the percussive influence still remains in her selections and this sensibility boded well for her recently when she supported the like-minded DJ Fart In The Club, something Ana describes as a “true blessing.”
“[This mix] is a collection of newer and older gems from different labels and artists that I have been listening to recently,” she says. “Pseudonym Records and Paryia Records, to name a few.”
