SFMix 006: Mercorn

The Dublin selector steers us through an oscillating mix of bliss and bombardment.

Mercorn, aka Megan Nolan, is here to help change the status quo amongst the Dublin scene.

Having felt the gender imbalance and the “intimidating environment” that stemmed from the male dominance on the Irish capital’s club circuit, herself and some close friends – EMA, Small Crab, Gina, and Eva – decided to put a dent in this hegemonic structure. And so, the Skin&Blister collective was born.

“We recognised that Dublin is definitely lacking the necessary supportive platforms for Female, Trans, and Non-Binary creatives,” Megan says. “We want to help support artists and teach newcomers how to DJ and produce – but in safer, more inclusive spaces. As well as this we want to curate safe spaces for women on the dance floor. I want to encourage other women to DJ as other women have for me.”

Having this incentive in mind, Megan recently had the pleasure of interviewing Radiant Love resident and flagbearer for Irish female DJs, Cáit.

The 24-year-old has an ingrained predilection for trance and 90s music thanks to her parents, and this rave ethos certainly shines through on this 67-minute offering: “I just want people to listen and wanna PARTY the minute they listen to it.”
